“What is agreed upon gets delivered” – reliable subcontracting frees Treon’s resources for core expertise

Treon Oy, operating in the IoT solutions sector, has trusted Saloteam’s services since the company’s early years. Over the years, the collaboration has expanded to include the manufacturing of machined parts, the design and manufacturing of production auxiliary equipment, and assembly services.

Flexible partnership enables Treon to use its own resources more efficiently and supports production reliability.

Saloteam is a subcontracting supplier in a demanding supply chain

Treon develops scalable IoT solutions for material handling, manufacturing, and vehicle monitoring.

Treon Connect, the company’s end-to-end platform, empowers organisations to overcome challenges in physical operations through state-of-the-art wireless smart devices and AI-powered analytics software. Treon’s solutions are utilised by leading industrial companies worldwide.

Treon’s operations require a subcontracting partner with strong technical expertise, reliable delivery, and the ability to operate within a precisely scheduled production chain.

When Treon was founded in 2016, it needed a skilled partner to acquire machined parts, assembly jigs, and testing equipment. Collaboration with Saloteam began the following year.

“Saloteam was selected as a supplier based on their service range and previous experiences. We knew we would get quality service from them,” says Ari Niemi, Production Testing Project Manager at Treon.

Products that Saloteam has manufactured:

Service range that adapts to Treon’s production chain

Saloteam’s role in Treon’s production chain has been diverse from the start. Saloteam manufactures, for example, assembly jigs and testing equipment used in production, as well as precision-machined parts and their sub-assemblies for Treon.

“Saloteam offers us an extensive service range. We get precision-machined parts that we assemble ourselves, as well as complete equipment from design to implementation,” Niemi describes.

The operating model is flexible. Treon often procures materials for machined parts and installation-related components. Products delivered by Saloteam are verified at Treon, then transferred to the EMS contract manufacturer for production use.

When schedules hold, production keeps moving

In Treon’s supply chain, adherence to schedules is a critical factor. Operations require a partner capable of providing realistic estimates and keeping to agreed delivery times.

Saloteam is a supplier whose word can be trusted. Realistic estimates and open communication are the cornerstones of the collaboration.

“They do what they promise – in terms of delivery times, quality, and cooperation,” Niemi states.

“It’s important that schedules are met precisely. We’d rather have a positive surprise with deliveries arriving ahead of schedule,” he concludes.

Communication is the foundation of successful collaboration

Precise deliveries require open and proactive information flow throughout the project. Saloteam’s communication receives praise, particularly for its proactiveness and transparency.

Possible changes or additional needs are discussed openly, which enables a flexible response for both parties.

“Saloteam communicates proactively during deliveries and keeps us up to date. If there’s anything to clarify, they reach out. This open approach creates trust and makes work more efficient,” Niemi says.

Even urgent schedule requests always receive a clear response. If expedited delivery is not possible, this is discussed openly, and Treon can make necessary arrangements in time.

Result: streamlined operations and predictable production

The key benefit of the collaboration for Treon is improved operational efficiency. By outsourcing assembly to Saloteam, Treon can direct its own design resources to its core expertise.

“Outsourcing frees our experts to focus on essential design work,” Niemi states.

Treon finds Saloteam’s consultative approach particularly valuable. In addition to deliveries, Treon receives suggestions for improved materials and implementation solutions aligned with its specifications.

Additionally, comprehensive documentation of equipment delivered by Saloteam – such as operating instructions in English and spare parts lists – supports equipment use and maintenance in an international production environment.

The collaboration continues strongly, and Treon sees opportunities to expand assembly outsourcing to Saloteam in the future as well.

“I absolutely recommend Saloteam. Their strengths are reliability, good communication, and quality products. Organisations that value reliable delivery and flexible service will benefit from this partnership.” – Ari Niemi.
